Overview:

The ideal candidate is an experienced Hardware Engineer to provide Windows system administration support running multiple, enterprise level applications.  They will possess and apply a comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high-impact assignments while ensuring all goals and objectives of an initiative and the program are accomplished within contract terms and conditions. This position is responsible for ensuring that all assigned work activities are performed in a timely and cost effective manner while maintaining the highest quality of performance.

Responsibilities:

Support agile software development teams providing system administration support and maintaining a variety of virtualized development and test environments.  Additionally, provide support to the information assurance team applying patches and running tools to ensure compliance with the information assurance policies. Responsible for activities associated with delivery of customer-defined systems and software projects; basic responsibilities include:

  • Operating and maintaining different development and test environments including installing and supporting applications and tools.
  • Providing troubleshooting and testing support, system configuration, hardware engineering and logistics support.
  • Monitor system/server statistics, metrics and reports to identify and resolve discrepancies and anomalies.
  • Perform subsystem and system level testing, supporting system regression testing, security testing/hardening for quality control before deployment.
  • Analyzing project-related problems and creating innovative solutions involving, scheduling, technology, methodology, tools and solution components.
  • Performing scheduled and allocated work, providing advice and guidance, and resolving problems to meet technical performance objectives.
  • Develop status reports as needed.
  • Anticipate issues proactively and escalate as appropriate.
  • Provide technical expertise in the infrastructure design, installation, implementation, operation, and maintenance of the environments. 
  • Resolve application and system software problems.
  • Troubleshoot configuration and integration problems.
  • Monitor and optimize system performance.
Qualifications:

Minimum required:

Must be a U.S. Citizen, with or eligible for a Government security clearance

College degree (B.S.) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Management Systems or a related discipline (experience in lieu of a degree will be considered)

Experience with multiple operating systems including Windows and Linux, HPUX a plus

Experience with virtualization using VMware ESX

Expertise with Storage Area Networks (SANs)

Excellent verbal and written communication

Excellent troubleshooting skills

Understanding of all elements of the software development life cycle, including planning, development, requirements management, CM, quality assurance, and release management

Highly responsible, team-oriented individual with very strong work ethic, organized and a self-starter

Professional Experience: 5+ years related technical experience

 

Desired:

Familiarity working with Oracle databases

Technical Certifications

Ability to apply advanced principles, theories, and concepts, and contribute to the development of innovative principles and ideas

Experience working on unusually complicated problems and providing solutions that are highly creative and ingenious, exhibiting ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness

Periodically develops data which goes beyond existing boundaries of information in field.

Acts independently to expose and resolve problems
